MCP Server

Build campaign links by asking your AI assistant.

Connect UTMLoop to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client. Your assistant creates links that follow your team's naming rules, checks links others built, and reports on your campaigns.

Why connect UTMLoop to an AI assistant?

Ask a general AI assistant to "add UTM tags" and it makes up values: Facebook one day, fb or meta the next. Each variation becomes a separate row in GA4 and splits your reporting. Through the MCP server, the assistant builds links with your UTMLoop templates and naming rules instead, and UTMLoop rejects any value your team doesn't allow, so links created in a chat are as clean as links created in the app.

What your assistant can do

Create compliant links

Your assistant builds tagged short links that follow your workspace naming rules. If it picks a value your team doesn't allow, UTMLoop tells it the allowed ones and it corrects itself.

Preview before saving

Ask to see the links first. The assistant shows the exact tagged URLs, and nothing is saved until you say yes.

Check and find links

Paste a link someone else built and ask if it's right, or find every link missing a campaign name. The assistant checks it against your rules.

Report on campaigns

Ask how a campaign did this month, by source and medium, compared with the month before, without exporting a CSV.

Use your templates

Build links from the templates your team already uses, and update templates when the plan changes.

Stay in control

See every connected app in UTMLoop, switch one to read-only, or revoke it. Changes made by an assistant show up in your activity log.

Things you can ask

  • “Tag our webinar page for LinkedIn, the newsletter and X using the Events template. Show me the links first.”
  • “Which campaign had the most clicks last month, and from which source?”
  • “Is this link OK to use? https://example.com/pricing?utm_source=LinkedIn&utm_medium=Social”
  • “Find any links to /pricing that are missing utm_campaign.”
  • “Shorten https://example.com/blog/launch for me, no tags.”
  • “How is the spring-launch campaign doing compared with last month?”

Set it up in two minutes

You need a UTMLoop account (Free works for read-only tools) and an MCP-compatible client.

https://app.utmloop.com/api/mcp

Claude (web and desktop)

  1. Open Customize, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the connection URL and click Add. The default sign-in settings work.
  3. Click Connect. A browser window opens so you can sign in to UTMLoop and approve access.
  4. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector first under Organization settings, then Connectors, then Add and Custom; members then click Connect.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode (available on paid ChatGPT plans).
  2. Back in Apps, choose Create, name it UTMLoop, paste the connection URL and pick OAuth.
  3. Sign in to UTMLoop when prompted.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http utmloop https://app.utmloop.com/api/mcp
  1. Run the command above, then run /mcp inside Claude Code and choose UTMLoop to sign in.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "utmloop": { "url": "https://app.utmloop.com/api/mcp" }
  }
}
  1. Click Add to Cursor, or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Cursor prompts you to sign in the first time it connects.

VS Code (Copilot agent mode)

Add to VS Code
{
  "servers": {
    "utmloop": { "type": "http", "url": "https://app.utmloop.com/api/mcp" }
  }
}
  1. Click Add to VS Code, or add this to .vscode/mcp.json. VS Code asks you to sign in on first use.

Any other MCP client

  1. Add the connection URL as a remote (Streamable HTTP) MCP server. The client opens a UTMLoop sign-in window on first connection.

Every tool, at a glance

21 tools, listed straight from the live server. Your assistant asks before any change, and each connection is limited to 60 calls a minute.

Sign in, no keys

Access is granted through a standard OAuth sign-in to your UTMLoop account. There is no API key to paste into a config file or leak in a repository.

Your rules still apply

The assistant works inside your workspace, so naming rules and templates apply to every link it creates, and every change it makes is labelled in your activity log.

You decide what it can do

Settings in UTMLoop lists every connected app. Set one to read-only or revoke it, and it takes effect on the app's next request.

Frequently asked questions

What is the UTMLoop MCP server?

It is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor work with your UTMLoop account. Once connected, you can ask the assistant in plain language to create and check links, find links, and report on campaigns across your projects.

Do I need an API key?

No. The first time your MCP client connects, a browser window opens and asks you to sign in to your UTMLoop account. There is no key to copy, store, or rotate.

Which UTMLoop plans include MCP access?

Every plan can connect. On Free, assistants can read: check links against your rules, search links, and report on campaigns. Creating or changing links, templates and rules, plus AI campaign planning, needs Pro ($25/month or $250/year) or the $399 Lifetime Deal.

Will the AI follow my team's naming conventions?

Yes. Every link the assistant creates is checked against your UTMLoop naming rules before it is saved. A link with a value your team doesn't allow is rejected, and the assistant is told the allowed values so it can fix the link. That is the main difference from asking an AI assistant to write UTM parameters on its own.

Can the assistant change things without asking?

Every tool tells your AI client whether it only reads or makes changes, so clients like Claude and ChatGPT ask before a change. You can also set any connected app to read-only in UTMLoop under Settings, then Connected apps.

Which AI tools work with it?

Claude (web, desktop, and Claude Code), ChatGPT (with custom connectors), Cursor, VS Code with Copilot agent mode, and any other MCP client that supports remote HTTP servers with sign-in.

How do I disconnect?

In UTMLoop, open Settings and find Connected apps. Revoke an app to stop it immediately, or switch it to read-only. You can also remove the connector from the AI client itself.

Give your assistant your naming rules.

Read-only access is free. Pro and the Lifetime Deal add creating and changing links from your assistant, alongside custom domains, QR codes, and redirect intelligence.
